Nicholas Lusher Antiques
& Fine Art
Nicholas Lusher Antiques & Fine Art
presently trades in Bermuda. We buy and sell “by appointment” (private
appointments for viewing are made at my residence by telephoning first) though
over the years we have had two “bricks and mortar” retail galleries on these
islands. Nicholas has been in
business for more than 25 years in this industry - officially since 1980. He was initially trained at what is now
known as Sotheby’s Institute in the early 1980’s, pursued a degree in Modern
History at King’s College at the University of London, and subsequently became,
for a time, a Trustee at the Bermuda National Gallery, where he was also a member
of the Director's Circle. Nicholas was invited to curate a show there on
antique Bermuda maps in the 1990’s having been a contributing writer of, and
publisher of, a book "The Mapping of Bermuda". On the occasion
of the marriage of Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, to Britain's Prince Andrew,
he was approached by the Government of Bermuda to find an appropriate gift
to mark the Royal occasion on behalf of the people of Bermuda. The item he
suggested was accepted. Nicholas has also been a Trustee of The
Bermuda Society of Arts (established exclusively for the Contemporary Arts). Nicholas Lusher has bought and sold
Bermuda-related Antiques & Fine Art for his entire professional career and
has a wealth of expertise in this his core area of dealing. The business has also always traded items
of general interest as well. Driven by his passion for what he does, Nicholas
aims to trade items of beauty, history and cultural significance.
Nicholas made Bermuda his home again in the mid-1980’s. In
1989, he married Jamie, who is originally from the US. In 1992, Ben was born – he is now
a passionate jazz pianist and vocalist – and in 1994, Chloe was born who
has spent the last 10 years studying dance and also plays the flute.
